Journey to a Cure
There’s no doubt that it takes a team effort to achieve difficult goals. And when it comes to finding a cure for cancer, it’s not one person — but millions — who strive every day to reach that goal. From scientists to doctors to philanthropists, each plays an important role.
Diamonds International joined in the battle against breast cancer with the launch of a new pendant that will promote breast cancer awareness. The one-of-a-kind creation is called “Journey to a Cure” and was created in honor of Irene Panoff’s (co-publisher of Porthole Cruise Magazine) late sister, Linie Hilderink, who lost her battle against breast cancer at the young age of 35. A portion of the sale from each pendant will be donated to the Jackson Memorial Foundation and the UM/Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center for breast cancer treatment and research. Charitable Eyecare Mission
Tanzanite International, sister company to Diamonds International, has funded the Board of Charitable Eyecare Mission since 2007, which offers annual week-long free eyecare services in Arusha, Tanzania. The first year of the program treated over 2,000 Mererani residents and it has grown significantly with each passing year. Tanzanite One, the mining arm of Tanzanite International, built the Naisinyai Primary School in the Mererani region, which provides education for area children aged 5 to 11. Baby Haven
Baby Haven started in 2003 after a series of articles was published in the Johannesburg newspapers highlighting the large numbers of babies that had been abandoned in local hospitals. Many mothers who went to hospital to give birth learned of their HIV+ status and simply left the hospital without their baby. Other babies were found abandoned in rubbish bins, in fields and public places, and taken to hospital.
Baby Haven Namibia provides a home to orphans up to the age of fifteen who have been diagnosed with HIV. It also serves as the link between the babies and their adoptive parents. In a continent overburdened with orphans, Baby Haven has been part of the answer.
ALMOD Namibia, sister company to Diamonds International, is committed to the Namibian community and pledged to support the Namibian branch of Baby Haven.

Saving Tiny Hearts Society
The Saving Tiny Hearts Society’s mission is to raise money for grossly under-funded, crucial, life-saving research of congenital heart defects (CHD), America’s #1 birth defect. Nearly 1 of every 125 babies born in America each year is affected by a Congenital Heart Defect.
The Saving tiny Hearts Society is the only organization in the country that was formed for the sole purpose of raising funds for congenital heart defect research with 100% of general donations going directly to funding this research. There are no paid employees and we are run entirely by dedicated volunteers. Furthermore, the organization’s overhead costs are fully funded by our Board of Directors and directed donations.
Diamonds International is proud to support the Saving Tiny Hearts Society.
